Medford BLM proposes to close target shooting...

BLM 12/21/18 Anderson Addition Extensive Recreation Management Area (RMA)

The BLM and local community need our help!  As responsible shooters, we need to collaborate to find a resolution to this problem.  It seems that a few rogue shooters, who don't care or know about responsible shooting on public lands, are ruining it for the rest of us.  They are causing hardship in the near by community and we are not going to stand by and watch that happen.  We need to do the right thing and help improve the situation.  This has been an ongoing problem for several years and needs your immediate attention.

Call to Action!  Responsible shooters, (whether you shoot on public lands or not)...  We are proposing that the BLM reconsider their plans of closing the entire area for 2 years and consider closing only specific shooting places that are determined to be unsafe and/or unlawful.  Other dispersed shooting sites, that are found safe and viable, should be left open to recreational shooting.  We agree and commit to a community wide education and awareness campaign that includes active involvement from the local shooting community to promote responsible recreational shooting on public lands, specifically in that area.  We commit to sponsoring cleanup events, at shooting sites throughout the area, distribute informational materials, communicate with fellow shooters in the field and diligently work towards creating quality recreation for all who visit our public lands.
