ODF and NWFA partner to prevent fires at target shooting lanes.
Fire Prevention in recreational target shooting was the emphasis on Saturday’s cleanup and celebration event in Tillamook State Forest. Held at the newly improved target shooting sites on North Fork Wolf Creek Rd, these sites were designed primarily for helping reduce the risk of fire while shooting. No dry grass, earth berm high backstops, no stumps or trees and more. Side benefits are obvious and intriguing to the recreational shooter.
No cleanup needed today at these 4 shooting lanes! They have been well maintained by the shooters who use them since developed. We did, however, send out our 45 volunteer troops to other shooting sites where we removed a little over 10 yards of trash.
Excitement was high, food was great, weather was awesome, people were super and the After Party was a huge BLAST!
It was a perfect venue for our last official cleanup of the summer of 2016. Thank you to all who participated!
